CAA Online

With the 21st century, the Internet and unicode inputs have finally become a dynamic tool for multilingual research and documentation. Building on the base provided by CAA Digest and its ongoing inputs, China Archaeology and Art Online is being constructed as an ongoing, fully digital encyclopaedia that will serve those interested in Chinese art history, culture, history, archaeology, anthropology, religion, ethnology and philosophy. True colour illustrations will enhance the reference function of CAA Online.

CAA Online fully utilises fields that enable searches by author, topic, publication, artefact, archaeological excavation team, museum, and archaeological site. The database includes full articles and lengthy summaries in the tradition established by CAA Digest, and includes full-form Chinese characters of all terms, as well as appropriate Tibetan, Mongol, Khitan, Sanskrit and other scripts.

China Heritage Online
Introductory papers examine cultural themes that can serve many disciplines, ranging from agricultural origins and apparel to shelter, specific religions, theatre, trade, transport, urban planning and warfare. These portals will provide CAA Online with a long needed educational function.

CAA Online removes the barriers that prevent those interested in Chinese culture, art, archaeology and history - but who do not read Chinese - from accessing the latest developments in Chinese archaeological, art, history and heritage studies, yet also affords access to the primary sources for specialists and students alike. CAA Online is now under construction and Stage 1 will be launched in the near future.
